Real-time time stretching lets you focus on getting creative fast. Drop in a new loop, and it automatically matches your project’s tempo. Adjust the tempo and it changes in real-time. And now you can audition loops on the fly – listen, load, and swap without ever stopping the music.

PITCH AND CHOP

Gate mode opens up endless creative possibilities for playing loops. “Chop” loops easily by drumming where you want to hear the loop. Hit the pad and the loop plays through. You can also play loops melodically by simply going up and down the scale in Keyboard mode – the pitch shifts where MIDI notes are placed. MASCHINE 2.3 adds an all-new Cymbal Drum Synth and a new Hi-Hat engine.

CRASH

The Crash engine delivers everything from a 909-like crash to more acoustic-sounding cymbals. The Ride engine can be adjusted to sound as if the cymbal is being struck on its edge or bell.

HYBRID

A new, hybrid acoustic/electronic Hi-Hat engine allows adjustments to everything from hi-hat sizzle to the amount of metallic tone in the sound.

NEW DRUM ENGINES

New MASCHINE 2 Drum Synth engines add more possibilities to your snare and tom sounds.

BREAKER

The Breaker snare engine is an acoustic snare drum that cuts through mixes with heavy bass. This synth allows you to adjust how much ‘snare wire’ is in the sound, allowing for a huge range of snare tones.

TOM

The High Tom is an acoustic tom that complements the Floor Tom. With very few controls you can get a wide range of tom sounds.

NEW HALL AND ROOM REVERBS

MASCHINE 2.3 delivers two new, high-quality reverbs. Your existing projects using the original reverb will load with the original effect, now called Reverb (Legacy).

HALL MODE

The new Hall reverb emulates concert halls and other large acoustic spaces. Add sustain and lushness to tonal sounds, or create ambient effects using extreme settings.

ROOM MODE

The Room reverb emulates spaces with denser reverb, including smaller rooms. Great for adding decay to a snare, subtle width and air to a drum bus. Or create special effects with longer reverb times.

NEW LIMITER, DISTORTION, AND CABINET EMULATION

Add punch, grit, and shape to your sound with the new Limiter, and Cabinet effects, and an Analog distortion mode.

TRANSPARENT LIMITER

The high-quality Transparent Limiter uses special envelope detection to greatly reduce distortion, especially on low end content. The original Limiter is still available as the Legacy mode.

ANALOG DISTORTION

The new Analog distortion mode is a warm, mid-range-enhancing overdrive with the sound of a vintage tube amplifier. The old Distortion plug-in is now available as Mulholland mode.

CABINET EFFECT

The new Cabinet effect models the sound of guitar and bass cabinets, giving you full control over type of cabinet, mic position, type of microphone, and room response – a great all-around sound sculpting tool.

WORKFLOW IMPROVEMENTS

Additional workflow improvements to accelerate your creative process:
  • Quantize and Quantize 50% now available from the Pattern Editor Context Menu
  • Under MIDI Input Modes, the Source parameter off setting renamed to Focus (previously Off)
